It is with great enthusiasm that I recommend drummer Jean-marie Corrois for your upcoming jazz festival. He is a versatile, supremely-talented percussionist who draws deeply from all rhythms of the world – with a crisp style and passion for synergy and invention.

Jean-marie joined my jazz/pop band made up of veteran musicians earlier this year. Jazz in the Square in Boston has been bringing in fine jazz bands from across eastern Massachusetts for our monthly concerts for seven years. I mostly have hired bands where I knew one or more of the musicians, but when I listened to a couple songs from the website linked to in an email sent to me by Jean-Marie Corrois promoting his band, the JMC Quartet, I decided to bring in this group that I had no previous knowledge of.
I made the right decision. Between my and the band's promotion we had a good turnout. The concert was superb, with a mix of Jean-marie's originals, many of which had a compelling African influence, and a number of pieces by European composers that don't usually get much (any) play in Boston.
The crowd was very enthusiastic throughout the evening. Several people mentioned to me that they thought this was the best band we had ever had; one of them was the leader of one of the bands that has played for us!
I highly recommend the JMC Quartet.

I recently had the very good fortune to attend a show by the JMC Quartet at the Jazz in the Square series in Roslindale, MA. These guys sound like they've been playing together for years! A terrific, tight
quartet, anchored by drummer Jean-marie Corrois, with bassist Keala Kaumeheiwa, pianist Gilson Schachnik and saxophonist Bill vint, set the tone for a solid night of jazz -paying tribute along the way to various composers and musicians. Swing, post bop, beautiful ballads and good old fashioned hard core jazz all come to mind when hearing the music. Seamless trading of solos, together with the overall musicianship of each player made for a memorable time. Go see these guys!
